Izzy and Max’s same-sex micro wedding was a celebration of pride and joy and I was so honoured to capture it.
Same-Sex Micro Wedding
On the big day, I met Max and Izzy underneath the Brisbane Registry Office in downtown Brisbane City where their friends and family were gathering ahead of the ceremony. The grooms looked schmick in their suits from Black Jacket Suiting.
Gone are the days of daggy registry office weddings here in Brisbane! With stylish fixtures and city views The Brisbane Registry Office is the perfect venue for couples wanting a stress free wedding. It’s been over 3 years since Australia SAID YES which made Izzy and Max’s vows, surrounded by friends and family, all the more precious.
After the ceremony, it was time for a few photos of the wedding party. Then I whisked the boys off for their portrait session in West End. We wandered through Fish Lane finding some great spots amongst the commissioned wall art for the couple’s wedding portraits.
Afterwards, we zipped over to Woolloongabba where their reception was taking place at Electric Avenue. Hidden on the first floor is Brisbane’s worst kept secret, Mrs J. Rabbits Speakeasy, a 1920’s whisky and jazz speakeasy that ordinarily you need a password to enter. It was here that Max and Izzy celebrated with 50 of their nearest and dearest. After a few shots and delicious snacks, I left the couple with their friends to celebrate the night away.
Pride today, tomorrow and every day. Love prevails. Congratulations Max and Izzy xoxo.
