Anna and Sinead’s same-sex micro wedding was a celebration of love and joy and I was so privileged to capture it.
Same-Sex Micro Wedding
On the big day, I met Sinead at the gorgeous home of Anna’s cousin in Peregian Beach. With beachfront access and a private garden the home is an ideal space to hold a micro wedding! Anna was upstairs finalising her hair and make-up while friends and family were gathering in the backyard.
It was ceremony time and the guests, both physically and virtually, gathered to witness these two incredible ladies say their “I do’s”. There were even guests of the four legged kind (my fav!) to celebrate the connection between these two ladies. Anna and Sinead shared laughs, heartfelt words and tender touches with each other as they said their vows.
After the ceremony, it was time for the bride’s portrait session on the beach in front of their family home. Only two doors down is a place that holds special meaning to the girls. Tucked into the sand dunes you’ll find a bench seat with a dedication to Anna’s father who recently passed away. Here, we captured a beautifully personal series of photographs to honour her father.
Afterwards, we zipped back to the family home where their pre-reception drinks were taking place. Here Anna and Sinead celebrated with just over 30 of their nearest and dearest. After a few shots and delicious snacks, I left the couple with their friends to celebrate the night away.
I choose to celebrate love everyday as a photographer + proudly support love in all its beautiful forms. It’s been over 3 years since Australia SAID YES! I’m so grateful for all the brave LGBTQI folks who fought to create a safer, more equal society in which everyone has the right to marry. Love prevails. Congratulations Anna and Sinead xoxo.
