Sophie and Sam

It was in 2010 at the UQ Red Room bar that a beer-drinking gal met a wine-drinking guy. 12 years later, Sophie and Sam gathered a collective of their closest friends and family to celebrate their love at their Brisbane Powerhouse Wedding.

Getting ready to say “I do”

On the big day, I met Sophie at their home. She was preparing with her bridesmaids Alex, Adina and Gemma. I immediately noticed all of the wonderful pictures and mementos that filled their house. As a photographer, It warms my heart to see a home adorned with family nostalgia.

With the girl’s prep in full swing, I drove over to meet Sam & his groomsmen. We captured a few quick family portraits in the house that Sam grew up in. It’s always a treat to shoot in places that hold special meaning to couples.

Enroute to the Powerhouse

From Hawthorne we put our trust in the Brisbane City Council, catching the citycat ferry across the Brisbane River to New Farm Park. It was a lot of fun capturing the guys as they joked and laughed their way between jetties.

Newfarm Park First Look

Seeing each other before the ceremony was important to Sophie and Sam. So with the help of their entourage (AKA Bridal Party), we guided the pair into position and started the countdown… 3, 2, 1!

A Brisbane Powerhouse Wedding

On the 3rd floor of the Brisbane Powerhouse, celebrant Ellen Woods performed their ceremony.  It was a heartfelt and personal ceremony for the couple filled with laughter, tears and joy!

After a few photos of their wedding party, I took Sophie and Sam around the grounds of the Powerhouse to capture some gorgeous moments.

Your wedding day, Your way.

For Sophie and Sam, time with their guests was paramount. So we wrapped up portraits in lightning time and headed back to cocktail hour before the reception.

Hot tip: Mingling and quality time with your guests can be a challenge on your wedding day. Don’t be afraid to tell your photographer what’s most important to you. I’ll help you organize the day to maximize what matters most! Family photos, Sunset portraits, Dancefloor action, or photos with your beloved pets or classic car… I’m up for it.

Champagne Tower

Sophie and Sam chose to do a Champagne tower on entry to the Reception! And the best part was that the pour became a race to see who could fill up their share first. Sophie won, no doubt.
